MY PHOTOS

Since I was a teenager, I used photography to store memories and to express my experience of the world and the landscape. Printing in monochrome helps me to reduce the image to the basics and to focus the attention on the message.

About my photography:

As a teenager my father gave a Fujica 35mm camera as a present.  I set up a darkroom at home and started to develop my old films and print my photographs. When I came to Australia I left my first camera and lenses at home.  Months later I bought a second hand Nikon FA and a tripod and re started taking photos and developing and printing in a makeshift darkroom set up in my unit’s laundry.

When I met Silvi, photography become a very important part of our relationship. We went everywhere with our cameras and tripods and when we moved in together, we choose our rental because we could set up a huge darkroom under the house.  Silvi is an accomplished photographer with great talent and keeps guiding me and teaching me new techniques.

With the years we moved from analogue to digital (but our darkroom is still ready under our house!) and I had to re-learn a lot of new concepts.

Four years ago I bought a drone and started taking photographs from the air which brought a new perspective to the landscape.

I print my images using cotton rag museum quality papers with ink pigments to ensure that the image quality will last for many years.
